This is a sweet table for Valentines Day, or just a spring dinner. I started with a pretty vintage cloth with pinks, reds, and aquas. I topped it with mercury glass candle holders and tiny glass vases with faux flowers (I would use pink flowers if I were really entertaining….sigh.) This could be replicated with just about any pretty cloth since the primary components aren’t tied to any color.
I used white dinner plates, glass salad plates, flatware (including pretty vintage silverplated dessert forks) and hemstitched linen damask napkins (that I bought a million years ago at an estate auction in Dayton, OH. I think I paid $8 for a whole box of linens.)
These mercury glass candleholders are glass candle holders that I bought at a thrift store for a couple dollars a piece. I wiped them carefully with alcohol after washing them while wearing gloves. I spritzed them very lightly with vinegar and sprayed them with mirror paint. You can find YouTube videos on how to make mercury glass. It’s really a great trick.
