It takes a while for our garden on the North side of the house to wake up. With the unseasonably warm weather we had early this past week, things really started to pop up.

I transplanted these Lenten Rose last year and they are starting to take off after a slow start.

I planted 3 bleeding hearts last year. They are just starting to poke up out of the ground. You can see an astilbe is just waking up at the bottom right of the photo.

This is my curly filbert tree. (I used a branch from this tree for my Easter table. You can see some Tiarella (foamflower) just to the right of the tree. This is a great little groundcover for shady areas. It is a woodland flower–I have seen them growing wild here. The Lenten rose in the background is putting on quite a show. There is a clematis vine on the old crib frame, but it got cut back when the contractors were doing the exterior work. It should make a comeback once the weather warms up some more.

This is a view of the perennial border from the lower driveway. There is another clematis vine growing on the wrought iron fence fragment.
