Plum and Pluot Jam

I went to Costco and Trader Joe’s last week. Costco had some really fantastic looking plums and Trader Joe’s had a couple of varieties of Pluots (a hybrid of plum and apricot), so, of course, I had to get some. I didn’t taste the pluots because I was pretty sure that I just barely had enough to make jam with, but I tried the plums (multiple times) and they are great.

I worked with the pluots first and followed the instructions on the regular Ball powdered pectin. This made 4 pints.

Two varieties of pluots–one was almost black
Chopped and ready to go in the pan
All finished!

Next I worked with the plums (after taste testing extensively). Plum jam is just gorgeous in the jar, and it is one of my favorite kinds of jam.

These plums have yellow centers and they are quite large so the jam wasn’t nearly as dark.
Almost ready to put in jars.
All Finished!
