I LOVE gyros and souvlaki sandwiches. We hadn’t had the gyro burgers in a while, so it was definitely time to put them back in the rotation. These are super easy to make and really flavorful. I used ground turkey, but you could use ground lamb, ground pork, or ground beef–or a combination of all of them if you are making a bunch.
19 oz ground lean turkey (or beef, lamb, or pork)
3 tbsp finely grated onion
2 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp ground cumin
3/4 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp sumac
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp olive oil
2 oz crumbled feta
Add all the ingredients except the cheese to a stand mixer with the paddle attachment.

Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Add the feta and mix until just combined. Form into four patties. I spray the tops of the burgers with cooking spray so and put them top side down on the grill–this keeps them from sticking because they are so lean.

Grill until the burgers register 165 degrees on an instant read thermometer.

Serve with your favorite tzatziki sauce–on a roll or pita or naan bread. We had them with a green salad on the side. Super yummy and pretty healthy!

Yum
