Last summer/fall, we sprayed a section of grass next to the garden on the south side of the house so that we could grow more tomatoes this year.

So this spring, I had 5 cubic yards of planting mix delivered.

I used some around the shed to bring up the grade between the concrete on the east and north sides so I could plant grass. I put some in the empty raised bed behind the shed. And I used the rest of it in this garden.
After the fun I had spreading planting mix, I had 5 cubic yards of shredded hardwood mulch delivered and my husband and I spread that on all the garden beds, including the vegetable garden.

We need to put up some additional supports for all the tomatoes I plan to grow this summer. I have San Marzano seeds for canning and sauce, and Cherokee Purple seeds for eating.
The weather was GLORIOUS this weekend, but it’s still too early to start my tomato plants, but it won’t be long!

Good luck with the tomatoes
