Great Plants, Great Selection, Great Prices

It’s around the doldrums of winter that I get the gardening bug BAD and gardening catalogs know it. Here are a couple of my favorites that you may not have heard of.

Van Engelen Bulbs vanengelen.com has really high quality bulbs and a huge variety of species and varieties. From the daffodils and tulips, to peonies, to Christmas blooming amaryllis to even more exotic bulbs, you can find them here. I have never been disappointed in any of my purchases from this company.

John Scheepers johnscheepers.com has some unusual varieties. I have had good success with their seeds.

Musser Forests musserforests.com is a fantastic source for shrubs, trees, and ground covers. They sell to other nurseries who plant the items in pots and grow until they are bigger. If you don’t have a lot of money, but do have a lot of time and patience, they are one of the best sources for high quality plants at unbelievable prices, especially if you buy a lot. I got 65 forsythia bushes for less than $100 with shipping!

So, if you have the gardening bug, here are some cost effective sources to scratch that itch!
