We have done so many projects for Chair-ries Jubilee here in Bradley County Tennessee. This is the primary fundraiser for bringing arts education into the local schools. It is always a fun event and if you are local, you should go. So many neat and creative items, great food and drinks, and loads of people.
This year, I was pondering what to do and with the basement project, I don’t have a lot of time. I came across some old metal legs that I bought several years ago for a project that didn’t work out and they have been gathering dust under the stairs in the basement. I also remembered that we had a top for a coffee table that was no longer needed, so I thought I would put them together for an industrial/modern coffee table.

I have been thrifting for several months and found some neat decor items.

So the project is a “Curated Collection on a Coffee Table”.
First, I asked my husband to cut off the really traditional routed edges on the coffee table. Then I sanded all the finish off of it.

I tried a stain trick I saw on Instgram….

And HATED it. It was a very Miami Vice kind of vibe–pink and gray….blech. So I sanded it back off and went with dark walnut stain.

I coated it with satin clear lacquer.

I wiped the legs down with paint thinner and sprayed them with lacquer as well.

And here’s the finished project…

I think that it has a very mid century modern vibe about it now.
The event is on April 21st. Check out their Facebook page for all the details.

Good Job
