Raspberry Iced Tea

My husband loves Peace Tea Raspberry Tea, but I don’t like spending that much on something that has so many “fake” ingredients. I decided to see if I could make something that gave him the same taste, but with much better ingredients.

I decided that I would use white grape juice for at least part of the sugar/sweetness and to boost the “fruity” flavor. I started this recipe with another recipe that I make that we call “magic tea”. Here’s how I made it:

Makes 3 gallons

12 Family sized tea bags (I prefer Luzianne decaffeinated)

1 1/2 cups of lemon juice

1 gallon white grape juice

1 1/2 cups sugar or splenda

4 1/2 tsp real raspberry extract

Water

Bring about 5 cups of water to a boil. Add tea bags and cover off heat. Let steep 10 minutes. Remove tea bags and squeeze with tongs to remove excess water. Add sugar or splenda to the hot tea and stir until dissolved. Add grape juice to 3 gallon drink dispenser along with lemon juice. Pour in hot tea mixture. Add water to make 3 gallons. Add extract.

Taste the tea and adjust ingredients as necessary. We don’t like super sweet tea, so this is on the tart side.

For 1 gallon:

4 Family Sized tea bags

5 1/4 cups white grape juice

1/2 cup lemon juice

1 1/2 tsp raspberry extract

Water

My husband really likes this version, so this may be the drink of the summer.

Now I need to figure out how to make a peach version.
