Citrus Inspired Table

I found a set of 7 Dansk “Lemon Zest” plates at a thrift store for $6 TOTAL. I think that this is a really fantastic pattern, so I found one more on Replacements.com and bought it so that I would have 8 dinner plates. This is a funny pattern because what looks like orange or red has a lot of pink in it too, so I leaned into that color with my table runner and napkin choices. This table runner doesn’t look this pink in real life. I used the Dansk plates and then my normal Duralex Picardie tumblers and Pasabahce “Scotch” double old fashioneds for anyone who wants something other than water with lunch. There are green glass compotes at each place for dessert.

For the centerpiece, I pulled out most of my little white pitchers, and I have amassed quite a collection of them–13 in total–and I am using 10 of them here. And yes, this table looks pretty full, but I am going to extend the table the next day when we’re having 12 or 13 people over for dinner. I wanted to do something that would work for both days and look “right” on both tables. For the flowers we have pale yellow carnations (not my favorite, but the color was perfect), coral satin flowers, peach lisianthus, various colors of zinnias, and a couple of filler flowers from Trader Joe’s. I love to use these little pitchers because they give a really full look without having to use just a ton of flowers.

This is the luncheon setting. If I think about it, I will take pictures of how it changed for dinner and then how it changed for the next day.

I have picked up these pitchers here and there (thrift stores, antique stores, and consignment stores) and I usually pay $1 to $5 per pitcher–depending on size, condition, and maker. I’ve collected them over the past 6 years. If you don’t have that much time, and want a similar look, you can do the same think with little glass bottles, which also work as place cards.
