The forsythia that we planted back in 2021–some in the spring and some in the fall–have really come into their own. They are HUGE, which is a little hard to tell from these photos.
For those of you that weren’t here back then, we ordered bare root forsythia bushes (Lynnwood Gold) from Musser Forests in Indiana, PA. They were pretty small.

We ended up having to add more rock last year so that the bushes weren’t growing past the edge of the rock and being a nuisance when I mowed. If you go to the original post and then look at them now, you will see that the rock extends way further out into the yard now.

These make a fantastic screening plant. We planted them 3 feet apart which is what they recommended for a hedge. I have to keep the backside trimmed so that we can always walk back there. It’s a little scary because it is a really tall retaining wall.
I finally got photos when they were at peak bloom. Just gorgeous!
