Bright and Cheerful Thanksgiving

Many of the colors that we associate with Thanksgiving decorations are browned down versions of yellow (ochre), Orange (rust or russet), and Red (maroon). This table uses clear bright tones of these same base colors along with a hefty dose of blue.

The inspiration for the table was the Villeroy and Boch Bonjour Madame salad plates. I paired them with my Wedgwood service plates, a blue printed paper napkin, yellow Fiesta Ware dinner plates, Independence Daffodil fruit bowls; Fostoria and Hazel Atlas Iced Tea glasses and flatware. The centerpiece is really simple a dark salmon linen runner over a blue oxford tablecloth with yellow containers filled with flowers in the same tones as the plates, along with a yellow Fiesta pitcher and a couple Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage bowls.

If I was doing this table for Thanksgiving in real life, I would have chosen different flowers and probably had them spill over the edges for a more dramatic effect, but I didn’t want to buy flowers, so I used my birthday flowers, zinnias that I was going to pull up, and some dahlias that are still going strong in the cutting garden.

I thrifted most everything on the table. It really is amazing what you can find out there.
