I was surprised at how long the centerpiece from the Christmas Adam party lasted, but I had to take it apart today because the flowers were dropping petals everywhere. I didn’t want to do anything too involved, but our kids are still here, so I wanted it to feel special.
After I took my vintage Christmas cloth off the table, I still had the plain white banquet cloth that I bought from Pottery Barn on the table. I knew I wanted to use my amaryllis, because they are really putting on a show. I needed a little more on the table to fill it out, so I used a couple of the little trees that were part of the bar decoration for the party. It still wasn’t quite enough, so I scattered gold chocolate coins, and some gold tealights around. That seemed like enough. Place settings consist of Wedgwood service plates, RAK banquet plates, Oneida “Weave” bowls, red checked napkins, Whitehall iced tea glasses, and Oneida Sheraton flatware.

I have really loved having the house be extra festive this year because of the party, but I am ready to put everything away and start fresh in 2026!
I am not going to do a whole post about this, but wanted to share it. I had seen velvet “paper” chain garlands lots of places this year and I wanted to make one for our house using wide, wired, velvet ribbon for the project. I bought gold, green, and red ribbon all the same width. I cut them into 8″ long pieces and then I used a hot glue gun to glue the loops. (I burned myself several times with the glue.) But the end result is STUNNING–even my husband (the Grinch himself) commented on how nice it looked.
I did this on Christmas Eve, because the kids weren’t home yet, and my husband was busy in the workshop.

I only bought 3 rolls of ribbon–10 yards of each color. I should have bought at least twice as many. When I went back to the store, they were sold out of the gold and green. I bought the red that they had. I will add to this next year, even if it’s only solid red. I also bought a couple rolls of light blue that is 1″ wide that I am going to use in my office next year, or maybe the kitchen. I am not sure.

I absolutely love the garland!!
