Early Spring Tablescape

I was looking through my collection of small tablecloths and runners and found an antique one that used to belong to my husband’s grandmother. It’s such a pretty cloth, but we’ve never had a table that is really fits. I decided to use it this past weekend for a table because my Father in Law and my Mother were coming to dinner and I always try to make that feel special for my guests.

The tablecloth is mostly blue and white but it has the tiniest bit of yellow that runs along the blue parts. It also has a fantastic embroidered “B” on it. I have daffodils blooming right now so I picked a bunch of them and put them in some of my collection of blue pitchers–so we’re bringing in the blue and yellow from the tablecloth. I added my 2 Smith and Hawken bunnies to the mix.

I wanted the place settings to have yellow and blue as well, so I pulled out my Villeroy and Boch Bonjour Madame (an ebay find) salad plates for the accent. I also found some blue napkins at the consignment store that match these plates which are really closer to periwinkle than a straight up blue. I used my service plates, buffet plates, and my Whitehall iced tea glasses and Noritake Sweet Swirl goblets (all from the thrift store). It is a super cheerful table.

I really love these salad plates. I am going to figure out some more ways to use them.
