I just went through all my posts to find tablescapes that are appropriate for spring gatherings. Here are some of my favorites:
Pretty in Pink
I have found in doing these tables, that I have very little in the way of pink anything to do tablescapes. I found these gorgeous Villeroy and Boch Summerhouse Rose salad plates for a great price on ebay, so I got them. (If you haven’t guessed, Villeroy and Boch is my very favorite maker–high quality, dishwasher safe, and great patterns.) Here’s what I came up with:

I used some of my extensive collection of small white creamer pitchers for the flowers along with a bunny pitcher made by Bordallo Pinheiro. I love white pitchers because you can use them so many ways and when they are small like this, it doesn’t take many flowers to fill them. (I probably have 20 of them and have picked all of them up for $1 to $5.) I have enough that I could use them as placecards–I’ll have to do that.
I should have used my little pewter bunny placecard holders with this table.
This would be really cute for a baby shower for a baby girl; a bridal shower; a bridesmaids luncheon; Mother’s Day; a little girl’s birthday; Easter; or lots of other occasions.
What do you think?
Thrift Store Score Table
I promised a Spring table using the items I teased in the post about the soup tureen I found at the thrift store. I started with a beautifully embroidered pillow cover that used to have a matching coverlet that went with it. Then I added the soup tureen, some white pitchers of daffodils, clear juice glasses with tealights, little green hobnail candle holders, my trusty verdigris frog, and my French orange glass egg cups. For the place settings, I was going to use white dinner plates, but I thought the persimmon Fiestaware would be cuter. I also set out some footed tumblers that are etched with a flower and vine design, and some green trellis napkins with cool green glass napkin rings that I found at an estate sale and then found more on ebay.

I think that it’s awfully cute and cheerful. What do you think?
Blue and Yellow Table
I’m really loving my soup tureen full of flowers, so I did another table with some more thrift finds…
I put down a paisley runner with yellow, blue and green and then added the tureen, but I put a curly filbert branch in it and attached some little faux butterflies. Then I added a blue/white stoneware hen on nest (thrifted), some cute Bordallo Pinheiro egg cups, a blue and white pitcher (thrifted) and some little candles (thrifted) and some sweet stoneware salt and pepper shakers (thrifted).
Place settings are white Villeroy and Boch dinner plates, Daffodil Independence fruit bowls (thrifted), water goblets (thrifted), wine glasses, flatware, and navy napkins (thrifted)–I should have used my green glass napkin rings (estate sale), but didn’t think of those.

How did I do with my upcycled treasures?
Rainy Day Table
It’s been really rainy here for the past several days, so I went thrifting, and found the CUTEST pair of green children’s rain boots, which inspired this table.
I started out to get little flowers to put in this bowl for a centerpiece.

And I found these little plants (which bloom for a long time) at Trader Joe’s.

I added a block of soaked oasis to keep everything evenly damp.

Then I added soaked coir and took the plants out of their decorative pots and placed them in the dish and filled in with the coir.

Here are the boots:

They’re so little, I had to use shot glasses to hold the water for the flowers. (I found later that the boots are watertight so the shot glasses aren’t required.)

I used Italian Countryside dinner plates by Mikasa and Pyrex Double Tough Green stripe Luncheon plates, green patterned napkins, flatware and glassware. I put some bunnies and a frog on the table with the flowers and boots. Here it is:

It turned out so cute that I don’t even mind the rain!
Early Easter Table
I found some really pretty Royal Albert Everyday Friendship plates that were the jumping off point for this table.
I started with a pretty vintage appliqued and embroidered runner and pull some Easter candies and some Martha Stewart bowl filler eggs into some apothecary jars. If I were doing this table for real, I would have also done some little vases of spring flowers.
The place settings are my Wedgwood MaxaDura service plates, the Royal Albert Dinner plates, Martha Stewart Chauncey footed iced tea glasses, and vintage green glass compotes.

Mother’s Day Table
We are having dinner with my mother and family for Mother’s Day. We haven’t had a gathering this big at our house since the pandemic began, so time to pull out all the stops.
My thought process started with the white and black canisters that have silhouettes of a boy and a girl on them. I wanted a lot of flowers, so I pulled out a cake plate and a variety of white pitchers from milk sized to teeny tiny. I add the black lanterns for a little more black on the table.
I used red and pink roses and cotton candy pink mini carnations for the flowers. I will add some greenery, but they didn’t have any where I bought the flowers. I had some dark chocolate mints in gorgeous aqua foil left from the baby boy baptism table I did, so I put those in some white dishes.
I love this vintage cloth. I did a holiday table with it a couple years ago and it was so cute and retro. What looks like green in the cloth is actually an aqua color, so I used my aqua napkins with molded white porcelain napkin rings which bring to mind a Tiffany box, and what woman doesn’t love that? I used some molded white porcelain plates that look like lettuce leaves and quite spring like.

St. Patrick’s Day
This is an all green theme perfect for Saint Patrick’s Day. I started with a green and white appliqued table runner, a green planter, and spring green lanterns.
For the place settings I used Fiesta ware in two shades of green, a white coffee mug with asparagus on it, and green and white napkins that echo the pattern of the table runner along with flatware and glassware.

Beautiful Blue Table
I had another idea for this table using some more items that I bought to sell. This time, the place settings take their nod from the napkin. I used Royal Stafford Victorian Calico Blue dinner plates and Blue Dynasty Salad plates. I like it.

I love this centerpiece. And my husband, who normally doesn’t comment, likes it too–especially the frog pitcher.
Baby Girl’s Shower
Trying to put together a table with a lot of pink is pretty challenging for me because I am not a big fan of pink, but here we go.
I reused the items from the Easter table, and added a bunny pitcher, some baby cups, pewter porringers, and some metal banks–a pig and an elephant.
The place settings are the Wedgwood MaxaDura service plates, Johnson Brothers Athena Dinner plates, Villeroy and Boch Summerhouse Salad plates, Fostoria Iced Tea glasses, and Anchor Hocking Wexford water goblets.

I think I should have done a runner or an overlay of some type. If I were doing this for real, I would have put some flowers in the cups.
Baptism Brunch for a Baby Boy
A friend asked me for ideas on how to decorate a table for a brunch to celebrate a baby boy’s baptism. This is a hard one because it’s a religious event. I pulled out the silver baby items that I had handy–there are a few more but buried deep in boxes–baby cups and a porringer. If you have silver rattles, silver banks, or little white baby shoes, those would work with this too.
I decided on blue hydrangeas because they are one of the few truly blue flowers. I also used waxflower (one of my favorite filler flowers) and veronica (speedwell). This is the primary arrangement.

It’s really quite a romantic arrangement and this particular vase makes any flower arrangement look great.
I started the table with a white cloth and a smaller white linen cloth embroidered in blue. I put some small flowers in julep cups and scattered white ceramic angels, baby cups, a porringer, photos in silver frames, and blue foil wrapped candies in silver dishes. I used this candy from Trader Joe’s mostly because of the color of the wrapping.

Since it’s a brunch, I set the table with white dinner plates topped with gift boxes with blue checked ribbon, white napkin in silver ring, water goblets and footed coolers (for juice, tea, bloody Mary’s, or mimosas.)

A lot of this table would work for a bridesmaid’s luncheon or bridal shower (removing the baby items and replacing the baby photos with photos of the bride and her fiance).
**My favorite place to buy boxes like these is Nashville Wraps. If you were doing a similar event for a baby girl, they sell pink cupcake boxes which would be really cute with white ribbon, or just a gold seal.
