A Very Mod Table for Easter/Spring

I teased a few weeks ago about some items that I was getting for the house that I would show later. Well, it’s later. I love our dining room chairs–arrow back cherry chairs from outside Lexington, KY–but they are not comfortable to sit in for long periods of time. I have recently learned about performance velvet fabrics that apparently clean up like a dream if anything gets spilled on it, so that was what I was planning to use for the seat cushion. I also wanted a cushion for the back, so I needed a coordinating fabric. I found the coordinating fabric at Short Sheet Fabrics in Knoxville, TN–and they have unbelievable prices. (The fabric has kind of a peacock look to it which carries on the “bird theme” that I have going on in the living room area.) I took one of my chairs and the fabrics to my seamstress and she did an AMAZING job.

Anyway, the new cushions were the jumping off point for this table. I have a few tablecloths that work well with the color palette of the backs of the chairs and I used a green one with blues and yellows and whites in it. I have a huge container of curly filbert branches that I clipped faux blue birds onto and some preserved moss to hide the inside of the container.

For the place settings, I started with my Mikasa Accent Tropicana service plates, a vintage green napkin (from my mom from about the same time period as the service plates), a green glass compote, Noritake Sweet Swirl green iced tea glasses and goblets. Just about everything on this table is second hand except for the flatware.

My seamstress did an amazing job centering the pattern on the cushions for the backs of the chairs and they are all identical. She is so good at what she does. The color of the napkins isn’t quite as vivid in real life.

I am thinking about getting another set of the back cushions (that work with the blue fabric on the seats) made so I have a couple of looks I can use, and I can also use just the seat cushion which is the same blue fabric as the cording on the backs.

Anyway, I think that this is a super fun table.
