I can hardly believe it, but we have had this house for 9 years already, and our bedroom and bathroom have barely changed during that time. This is our bathroom from the listing photos. Somehow, I don’t have a before photo of the bathroom after we painted it (and all the decor was taken byContinue reading “Budget Bathroom Refresh”

I’m going to do a few posts about some of the redecorating that is going on around here–particularly in the main suite, and in my youngest son’s room–these spaces haven’t changed much in the past 9 years and I am really tired of everything. So, if you’ve been following along for a while, you knowContinue reading “Bedroom Re-Do”

I found this cutie little vanity bench at the thrift store and felt sure that I could turn it into something neat for the garden. I had my husband use his angle grinder to cut all everything off the top except for the rectangular frame. I bought a small roll of plastic coated hardware clothContinue reading “Another Project”

Here’s a reminder of where we started with this chair project for the charity auction in a few weeks…. I found a chair at a thrift store in Atlanta for $2. I thought that the shape was really pretty and it would make a good desk chair, or side chair. I didn’t think that itContinue reading “The Finished Project”

Well, the last method that I found for starting sweet potatoes was a bust. But I found another one that seems to be working well. What this one recommended was taking a sweet potato that had started to send up shoots and placing it in a container with some water. I did this several weeksContinue reading “Starting Sweet Potatoes”

My oldest son’s girlfriend has a birthday coming up and I found a super cute MCM vase at the thrift store for $1–that really goes with the vibe she has going on in her house. She has lots of house projects coming up, so what she really needs is a gift card to a homeContinue reading “A Cute Gift Wrapping Idea for a Gift Card”

I found this cute bunny runner at the thrift store and I built a table around it. I started with my natural linen table cloth and then the runner. My little pink flowering plants in silver plated cups, 2 milk glass hens on next, little stoneware salt and pepper shakers, my favorite Smith and HawkenContinue reading “Pretty In Pink Easter Table”

Still working with my thrifted tureen, but I souped it up even more with some Easter eggs hanging from the curly filbert branches. This time I used a tablecloth with an all over pattern in blues, yellows, and greens. I added some Easter bunnies and milk glass hen on nests and a sweet basket withContinue reading “My Husband’s Favorite So Far”

There is an auction each spring here that raises money for arts education in our local schools. I have been doing projects for it most years. I found a chair at a thrift store in Atlanta for $2. I thought that the shape was really pretty and it would make a good desk chair, orContinue reading “Project for the Upcoming Auction”

In the spring of 2021, we planted 35 little forsythia bushes along our neighbor’s retaining wall, and then in the fall of 2021, we planted another 65. I don’t know if you can really tell how big these are, but they are probably 7′ tall. They are getting ready to bloom in the next severalContinue reading “Forsythia–Great Screening Plant”
