Spring Table Ideas

I just went through all my posts to find tablescapes that are appropriate for spring gatherings. Here are some of my favorites: Pretty in Pink I have found in doing these tables, that I have very little in the way of pink anything to do tablescapes. I found these gorgeous Villeroy and Boch Summerhouse RoseContinue reading “Spring Table Ideas”

Early Spring Tablescape

I was looking through my collection of small tablecloths and runners and found an antique one that used to belong to my husband’s grandmother. It’s such a pretty cloth, but we’ve never had a table that is really fits. I decided to use it this past weekend for a table because my Father in LawContinue reading “Early Spring Tablescape”

Mardi Gras Tablescape

I found some gorgeous purple glass salad plates by Bormioli Rocco “Palatina” at the thrift store. It was fortuitous timing since Mardi Gras is right around the corner. I started with my Wedgwood service plates, RAK buffet plates, and the glass salad plates. I added yellow to the place setting with the gold napkin, andContinue reading “Mardi Gras Tablescape”

Christmas Adam Party Preparations

My husband is off for the next two weeks, so he helped with the last of the food preparation this morning, so I have spent the rest of today getting set up for the party tomorrow. I feel like we are WAY ahead of schedule. I started setting up in the laundry room/butler’s pantry whereContinue reading “Christmas Adam Party Preparations”

Fall Fiesta

We had our oldest, his fiancee, and some of his teammates at our house for The Head of the Hooch last weekend. On Saturday, they expected to be late and some people thought they might be back earlier than others, so I planned to do chicken burrito bowls. I wanted to do a tablescape thatContinue reading “Fall Fiesta”

Bright and Cheerful Thanksgiving

Many of the colors that we associate with Thanksgiving decorations are browned down versions of yellow (ochre), Orange (rust or russet), and Red (maroon). This table uses clear bright tones of these same base colors along with a hefty dose of blue. The inspiration for the table was the Villeroy and Boch Bonjour Madame saladContinue reading “Bright and Cheerful Thanksgiving”

Out of town guests inspire some fun tables

My brother and his family visited with us last week from Germany. I ordered a bunch of sunflowers from Costco and I bought some Lemon Leaf from the grocery. For this table, I did my plain rimmed Villeroy and Boch dinner plates, and paper napkin with a leafy design and Pier One MacIntosh bowls forContinue reading “Out of town guests inspire some fun tables”

Greenery from the Grocery Elevates Garden Flowers

This year I planted a couple new varieties of Zinnias–Agave and Ballerina from Johnny’s Selected Seeds (I love their stuff–great quality.) They are really stunning and have some ENORMOUS Blooms. I wanted to do a statement arrangement for our peninsula when we had friends come in for the weekend. I wanted to use a largeContinue reading “Greenery from the Grocery Elevates Garden Flowers”

Blue and Yellow/Gold Table

This is a FUN table. I started with a navy blue and white tablecloth. I used my really neat yellow, blue, white, porcelain server; blue pitchers with sunflowers, lemon leaf, zinnias, and dill; and yellow bowls of lemons and limes. The place settings are my Wedgwood Maxa Dura service plates; Williams Sonoma napkins; white buffetContinue reading “Blue and Yellow/Gold Table”

An Argument for Lenten Rose

I have a LOT of lenten rose planted in the perennial bed on the north side of our house. I love it because it stays green all year. It does well in dry shade–not many things do. It does well in part sun/part shade too. And the flowers (once seed pods have formed) are justContinue reading “An Argument for Lenten Rose”
