Wallpaper for the Guest Bath

I am working on material selections for our guest bathroom. I had hoped to get started on it this winter, but Jackson took this semester off because his classes were still all online and junior level engineering classes in a virtual setting seemed like a bad idea to all of us. So, we are working towards this project maybe happening in early 2022. I am pretty well set on using a classic black and white tile scheme, but I do want to amp up the fun and playfulness with some wallpaper above the tile on the walls. There won’t be much wallpaper, so I can go pretty funky. I would like to bring in one of the greens that I’ve used in other parts of the house by painting the existing vanity.

Here are some of the papers that I have found that I like:

Which one would you choose? What are your second and third choices?

  1. 1) green leaves = simplest, very YOU, great color for towels, etc.

    2) feathers = close second! = even better color range, very simple, natural

    3) birds and trees = color and theme suit you, but could look a little too ditzy/indeterminate/trees are too small.

    I love me some whimsy, but the others are just too crowded and too monochromatic.

    My mother wallpapered a bathroom with my father ONCE. She said it was a wonder they stayed married. 😆

    1. Yes, apparently you know me pretty well as I would have ranked them similarly. I think the feathers are funny because I have a bird print on one of the chairs in the great room and the runners and one of the other fabrics look like stylized feathers.

      It is super fun. I like that it is pastel…..but the print is really big and may not work where I want to use it because I plan to tile about 2/3 up the wall, and there will be crown molding.
      Mike and I will not be hanging the wallpaper…..for the same reason as you describe–not good for our marriage.

    2. Aviary or Fairytale—for the funk
    3. I like the cameras, but may be disconcerting in a bathroom😁
