A Holiday Table for A Christmas Dinner Party

My sister in law is hosting a dinner this weekend and asked if I could help her get her table and buffet decorated for it. Of course, I said, “Yes!”

She had already decided on a Christmas tree theme–using her Nikko Christmas plates, and an assortment of table top Christmas trees. I have a metal Christmas tree at my house that matches the tree on the plates, and I brought a couple more, and lots of other stuff to play with–beaded garland, place cards, and cute little “trees” to put at each place to reinforce the Christmas tree theme.

We first laid down a white vinyl cloth to protect her pretty table cloth and the top of the buffet. Then we arranged the Christmas trees on the table and buffet. The first layer of greenery was Leyland cypress because it is flat and covered the vinyl nicely. Then we added a string of fairy lights to the table and buffet. On top of that we add more greenery–another kind of evergreen, holly, and magnolia. We added a few silver pine cone ornaments and that was all it needed.

The “trees” at each place are just clay pots that I spray painted gold and some mercury glass votives that I had. I put oasis in each pot and topped it with sheet moss and stuck a cedar branch in each one.

The place settings are Nikko Christmas, with Pottery Barn napkins in brass star/silver metal knot napkin rings, Camellia flatware, and crystal water glasses.

It really looks magical, and will be especially enchanting at night.

I hope that you are enjoying this holiday season in the company of family and friends!
