Summer Garden Birthday Party

Our niece and her family came in to town and it coincided with her birthday, so we had a get together to celebrate her.

I wanted to do something that was really cheerful and summery, so I started with a great Williams-Sonoma tablecloth that I found last year at the consignment store–even the right size! From there, I chose the super fun striped candleholders. I found 4 little matching bottles at the thrift store this week that I filled with yellow and white flowers.

For the place settings, I used white buffet plates and Villeroy and Boch Switch 3 Arabesque salad plates (I really love these). I was going to use navy napkins, but they just weren’t quite right, so I am using white hem-stitched cotton napkins in some gorgeous green glass napkin rings (I found the first 4 at an estate sale, and I tracked down more of them on ebay). Because I am going with a garden theme, it was the perfect opportunity to use my little vegetable place card holders–love them! I have platters that look like white wicker baskets that I am going to use for the bread, steaks, and potatoes. So cute!

The menu:

Salad (lettuce is from my garden)

Bread

Parmesan Roasted New Potatoes (potatoes are from my garden)

Steak

Asparagus

Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (Strawberries and Rhubarb are from my garden)

It really IS a garden party!!
