Pining for a Meal with Friends

I found a set of gorgeous vintage dishes at the thrift store–Narumi Shasta Pine Cone–which inspired this late winter tablescape.

I started with a couple of dark pedestals (also from 2 different thrift stores) with candles and pine candle rings and some balls made out of natural materials. The place settings started with my oak slices, the dinner plates, dessert bowls, Noritake Sweet Swirl iced tea glasses and goblets (from the thrift store), and an olive green napkin.

I really love this pattern. I currently have it listed on eBay (where it sells better than you might expect), but I may end up keeping it.

Late winter is such a tricky time to figure out what to do for a table and I think that this really works.

    1. What’s most surprising about the china is that it is a REALLY old pattern, but is pretty complete for a set that is that old–9 dinner plates, 7 bowls, 6 square salad plates (AMAZING) and 6 or 7 bread plates which is usually enough for our family. Looks like it was made in the late 50s
