My college friends and their spouses came in for the weekend. Both of the women love dishes and glassware as much as I do, so this was an opportunity to do something special.
The new cushions for the chairs were the jumping off point from a color standpoint. I used a light tablecloth that had a lot of green, yellow, and turquoise. I used my, new to me, Mikasa “Tropicana” chop plates as chargers and topped them with Pyrex Double Tough luncheon plates and some Georges Briard “Blue Dynasty” salad plates. I finished the place settings with Noritake “Sweet Swirl” iced tea glasses in green, Oneida “Sheraton” flatware and gold napkins. Most of the items that I used were thrifted or ebay purchases.
The centerpiece features frogs–a Bordallo Pinheiro Frog pitcher, a green yellow and white daisy pitcher, a frog planter, my children’s rain boots, a boxwood ball, and a metal frog. I filled these with Benary Giant Yellow zinnias from my garden and some flowers from the grocery.
Here it is.
