I love lemon squares. They are one of my favorite desserts–so tangy and lemony. Yummy perfection. Sometimes, however, the ratio of crust to filling is disappointingly even and I prefer more filling to crust. Here’s what I do to boost the ratio. I use a 15 x 10 pan and make 1 1/2 recipes ofContinue reading “Perfect Lemon Squares”

Birthday Flowers
A friend of mine just had a birthday so I am bringing lunch and flowers to her relatively new office. I got a a mixed bouquet and roses from Aldi and put them in a clear glass vase with green and white striped ribbon. I stuck a few pieces of pothos that I had rootedContinue reading “Birthday Flowers”
Easter Table Preparations–Alert
I am going to post some Easter tables in the days before the holiday. I am going to use real grass in cute containers. I am growing some for a really cute green planter and silver julep cups. I am also planting some for some little metal pails–I had to cut down some solo cupsContinue reading “Easter Table Preparations–Alert”
Trip to the Flower Farm Table
I saw on the news over the weekend that a local farm would be selling tulips, so we drove over to get some. (It’s the same place we got strawberries last year, although, they had trouble getting strawberry plants last fall, so they don’t have nearly as many planted as last spring.) Anyway, it wasContinue reading “Trip to the Flower Farm Table”
Delicious Dinner Salad
We often have a hearty vegetarian salad for dinner. That’s what we did the other night. With the beans and the cheese, this salad has enough heft for a light dinner or lunch. You can substitute cannellini beans, navy beans, or garbanzo beans for the great northern beans–I just really like the texture of theContinue reading “Delicious Dinner Salad”
Gyro Burgers
This is a rerun from last year, but we had Gyro Burgers last night because I found ground lamb at the grocery this week. I LOVE gyros and souvlaki sandwiches. We hadn’t had the gyro burgers in a while, so it was definitely time to put them back in the rotation. These are super easyContinue reading “Gyro Burgers”
St. Patrick’s Day Table
This is an all green theme perfect for Saint Patrick’s Day. I started with a green and white appliqued table runner, a green planter, and spring green lanterns. For the place settings I used Fiesta ware in two shades of green, a white coffee mug with asparagus on it, and green and white napkins thatContinue reading “St. Patrick’s Day Table”
Chris’ Favorite Enchiladas
My oldest son requested enchiladas for his birthday dinner several years ago and I made them with what I had on hand and fortunately I wrote down what I did because my family LOVED them. I made these for eldest’s birthday again this year and made a double batch of the meat filling so weContinue reading “Chris’ Favorite Enchiladas”
BBQ Turkey Sandwiches
I posted the recipe for the BBQ Turkey a couple of days ago. Here is what I did with the finished turkey. First, I removed the skin from one of the pieces of turkey breast. I sliced it pretty thin and put it on a plate and microwaved it on 60% power for 90 seconds.Continue reading “BBQ Turkey Sandwiches”
A LATE Snow and the Puppy who LOVES it
Last weekend it was close to 80 degrees here. Today, the high won’t get above freezing with a low of 13 predicted for overnight. Brrrrrrrrr. I’ll be honest, I would have been a lot more excited about 3″ of snow a month ago, but we have a family member with an entirely different opinion. SheContinue reading “A LATE Snow and the Puppy who LOVES it”
