An Italian Table

My SIL and a good friend of mine were hosting a supper club dinner and my SIL asked if I could help. I sent her some photos of things that I had, and we settled on a blue/yellow or gold/white theme with lemons. I had just found a great deal on some Villeroy and Boch salad plates that look like they could be the Italian countryside.

She had a white cloth on the table when I got there and I placed my yellow, blue and white server in the middle. We put little white pitchers with yellow baby roses and rosemary down the table and then layered some greenery (filling in for lemon leaves) from her garden and then put lemons on top of that.

For the place settings, we used ALL my service plates–my 6 Wedgwood Maxa Dura and my 4 Crate and Barrel, and fortunately I found 2 Noritake at the thrift store for $.50/each because she needed 12 places. Each of us had yellow, blue and yellow, white and yellow, and blue napkins (a total of 6 different patterns), so we used all of them. She had menu cards and place cards printed so we put those out. My friend had some cool wine glasses–color cut to clear–that added to the look.

Here’s the finished product:

They served the dinner course by course, so I don’t have a photo with the salad plates. I think it was an effective take on an Italian inspired meal and tablescape.
