We finally found a contractor to take on some of our projects. First up is the guest bathroom in the hallway. As I have mentioned before, the people who built this house decide to divorce during the build and so whereas the framing, etc. is pretty good quality, the bathrooms are definitely builder grade.
We’re starting with this bathroom because it is the most urgent item on our list. When they built the house, they didn’t install the bathtub/shower insert correctly, so the floor is lumpy and cracking. Our oldest is a big dude–6′ 4″ and about 220lbs–and the shower is making him nervous.
We are going with a classic black and white bathroom with mosaic floor and tiny subway tiles with black skirting, bullnose, and pencil trim. We found some awesome vintage light fixtures on Etsy that are on their way. I also ordered all the plumbing and accessory items from Ferguson, so they are also on their way.
Here’s some of the tile:

We are going to re-use the vanity cabinet. We’re going to add a piece of plywood to the left hand side and sand down the whole things and fill the holes from the current hardware and paint it white and add new hardware. I like the format of the cabinet, but not the color–golden oak. We’re going to have a stone top put on it with an undermount sink and an 8″ backsplash out of the same stone with a little shelf on top to lay things on when you’re getting ready. We’re using a wall mounted faucet because we hate deck mounted faucets because they always look a mess.

We’re going to paint the wall above the tub Limoges Blue from ICI Dulux Master Palette.

It looks great with the rug that we have, the shower curtain, and the cafe curtain I had made for the window. It will definitely be a very fresh and bright design.
We’re using Signature Hardware for most of the towel bars, etc. We ordered an inset medicine cabinet with a beveled edge mirror. I am also getting a shelf that we can put towels on and it has a towel bar underneath. One thing that is completely new is the robe hook that we’re adding on the wall between the shower and the closet
I can’t wait to get this bathroom finished because I have never liked it from a design standpoint, but with the floor tiles cracking and the issues with the tub, it’s time for it to go.
